Day 2 of Isagenix Competition – Pre-cleanse days

Just completed the first two cleanse days. we’re a mix of feelings.

Olga called me this morning, ‘I’m down 3 pounds since yesterday’ she says. I on the other hand only lost .6. Then it occurred to me that I forgot to take my Isaflush. Its the intestinal cleanser that helps the body eliminate the wastes. I’ll do better with that tomorrow.

Overall, the last two days were manageable. Both Olga and I experienced some mild cleansing symptoms such as headaches, mild constipation and body chills but we received valuable information on how to minimize the symptoms.

The pre-cleansing days consisted of 2 delicious tasting low fat protein shakes, a 400-600 calorie healthy meal, 2 accelerator capsules ( to the body burn fat and help speed up metabolism), 10-12 cups of water and a couple of snacks throughout the day.

I was not hungry at all however, I was tempted by certain smells( fresh bread). I would suggest not cooking for others if possible as it makes it a bit more challenging.

Tomorrow is the ‘official’ start of the cleanse. Now that we’ve given our body 2 solid days of healthy nutrition, its time for the first round of cleansing for the next two days.

The next two days will consist of mainly liquid nutrition called Cleanse for Life. It helps rid your body of unwanted impurities with gentle cleansing herbs such as Pau D’arco, Yellow Dock and Aloe Vera while filling it with vital nutrients, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. We will also have two accelerators, water and snacks and IsaFlush just like in the pre-cleanse days.

So we’re off to a good start. Olga is in the lead for now as far as weight loss but I’m feeling good about the next couple of days.

Here is some information that the Isagenix representatives sent us. It was very helpful.

COMMON CLEANSING SIDE EFFECTS AND SOLUTIONS

It is normal for the body to experience detox symptoms as it rids itself of toxins. The degree of these symptoms varies with each individual and is an indication of the level of toxicity, nutrition deficiency and overall state of balance the body is in. Detox symptoms are considered one of those “good, bad things” experienced as the body restores balance to heal itself.

HEADACHES: Why??? Body is releasing toxins at a quicker pace. The body may also be going through withdrawal from addictive substances and chemicals like caffeine, refined sugar, food additives, etc. This can feel quite unpleasant.
SOLUTION: Increase water intake and take it easy. Rest. Avoid taking pain relievers as they are toxic. You can try mixing half of the packet of “Want More Energy?” with 1-1½ cups of water, or if the headache is from caffeine withdrawal you can consume a small amount of coffee (approx. ¼ cup).

COLD EXTREMITIES: Why??? Body is in major cleansing mode and because it is releasing toxins the blood flow will gravitate to the internal organs to support this process.
SOLUTION: Put on extra layers of clothes. This usually passes after first two days of cleansing.

CONSTIPATION: Why??? Toxins are flooding the colon. In some cases, where a person is very toxic it can be a little challenging for the colon to keep up and it can get a little blocked up; you may experience bloating.
SOLUTION: Add ISAFLUSH (1 or 2 capsules per day at bedtime). You can also add freshly ground FLAX SEEDS, PSYLLIUM HUSK or some kind of GOOD FIBRE.

NAUSEA, DIZZY, UPSET STOMACH: Why??? Could be one of two reasons.
A) It has been too long (greater than 2-3 hours) since you last had something to eat or drink. This will cause low blood sugar and most often is accompanied by feelings of dizziness, faintness, fatigue, and occasionally nausea.
B) The body is either alkaline or acidic and is always striving towards balance. Often if the body is more acidic, the minerals (which are alkalizing) of the cleanse drink can cause a feeling of nausea in the body as it is not accustom to such a high quality of mineral nutrition. A higher acidic content in the body has been associated with drinking caffeinated beverages, such as coffee, soda drinks, alcohol and even red meat. (Have a ‘Isalean Snack before consuming your ‘Cleanse Drink’ this will coat your stomach, help prevent nausea).

SOLUTION:
A) Never go longer than 2-3 hours between the cleanse drink and snacks on cleanse days or the shakes, snacks and meals on the shake days.

B) It helps to consume one of the snacks with a large glass of water before taking the cleansing drink. This gives the stomach a food lining, helping with the digestion of the minerals. If you have been drinking the 4oz. of cleanse drink straight in one shot you can try diluting the 4oz. of cleanse drink in 8oz. of water. If you are still bothered, mix 2oz. of cleanse drink with 8oz. of water.
