Do This One Thing Before July 1st to Lose Weight

For those who know me, I probably sound like a broken record but bear with me, because there are a lot of people who are still falling for the weight loss gimmicks and fads.

So just in case you missed it, here goes again:

  • Diets don’t work to help you lose weight. 
  • The simple adage of eating less and exercising more does not work. 
  • Weight loss surgeries, pills, and other gadgets don’t work.

Why not? Because they don’t address what’s really at the root of why you continue to eat. They don’t address the emotional issues around why you overeat. They don’t address behavioral changes. So over time, 95% of you will just revert back to your old habits.

Since we’re getting ready to kick off the second half of the year on July 1st, this is the perfect time to help you stage your comeback, so to speak, so you can readjust what you’ve been doing and still achieve the health goals you set for yourself at the start of this year.

I’m going to give you just ‘one’ strategy that you can do that will put you on the right path. I know many people will not do it because they’re still looking for the quicker solution, but for those of you who will really pay attention and implement this, I look forward to celebrating with you at the end of the year.

This strategy I’m going to share with you is something that we do in our Weight Loss, God’s Way Program every month. Here goes …


Review your mistakes and adjust accordingly.

I know, you thought I was going to give you some deep mystery but deep down inside you already know that there is none.

One key to achieving your goals is to take some time prior to July 1st and analyze your success and your challenges. I do it in three categories--physical, spiritual, and mental. Then I choose 1-3 small habits that I will change and commit those to prayer.

Here's why it works:

1.  You may already know the definition of insanity, "doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results."

Evaluating your mistakes and challenges will keep you from constantly making the same mistakes over and over. Most women who struggle with losing weight have had the same struggle for most of their life. When you're intentional about your goals each and every month, it's virtually impossible to be struggling with the same issue when it's constantly on your radar.

2.  Most women try making drastic changes that make life overwhelming and downright miserable.

They then quit after a short time because they're just not sustainable. When you can identify your mistakes and focus on small changes, the process is not as overwhelming or as frustrating. You start telling yourself, "That's not so bad; I can do that", without feeling the need to overhaul your entire life.

3.  Reviewing your mistakes will help you to get laser-focused on what's really been going on.

When you review your performance, you may learn that there's a lot more going on than meets the eye. For example, if your goal was to exercise, when you analyze your performance you may learn that you did not exercise because you were too tired, you're too tired because you don't get enough sleep, and you don't get enough sleep because you stay up too late watching Netflix or surfing the internet. So, on July 1st, instead of setting another goal of 'working out' 5x per week, you'll set a goal of getting to bed by 10:30 which will give you more energy which in turn will give you more desire to exercise. Make sense?

4.  It will help you to prioritize.

Most of us have had the same weight loss goals for years, if not decades; yet never achieve it. If it's truly your desire, then you will take some time before July 1st and schedule time for what you need to do into your calendar. There's a big difference between wanting something and making the time for it. Reviewing your performance will show you that you're not putting in the time you need to in order to get the results you want.

5.  Analyzing your successes will boost your confidence and show you what's working and what you need to keep doing more of.

Analyzing your challenges will show you where you need to course correct and show you what you need to commit to prayer.


I know it's not glamorous like a new diet or a new pill guaranteed to burn away the fat, but if you can implement this tool into your life, it will stop you from spinning your wheels.

Be loving and kind to yourself and don't beat up on yourself as you look at your past mistakes. Turn them over to God and let Him help you moving forward.
