Success Spotlight ~ Marge F.

How many years have you struggled with your weight?

I was a chubby kid and had to wear husky clothing. I always felt bad about myself and kids are sometimes cruel. But I was active and lost quite a bit of weight by the time I was in high school. However, I still felt like I was fat. I look back at some of the pictures and wonder what I was thinking.

During my college days, I had some difficult circumstances and put on quite a bit of weight. After college, I began to take better care of myself and lost the extra pounds. Then, I got married and began to pack on the pounds when the babies started to come. My highest weight was 213.2. One day, I just had enough. I was done being a spectator and wanted to be a participant. This was the beginning of my change.

What advice/tips/suggestions could you offer to your fellow sisters on this journey?

Most of all, be kind to yourself. We all have good days and bad days. Days that eating within your boundaries seems easy. Other days we struggle. We did not gain weight overnight and there is no quick fix. The road on this journey is sometimes bumpy. Remember how much God loves you lavishly just as you are this minute. No condemnation–just love. As a loving Father, He wants what is best for you.

What is your highest weight? Current weight? And when are you projected to achieve your goal?

My highest weight ever was 213.2 twelve years ago. I was able to achieve my goal weight with Weight Watchers, but I couldn’t seem to stay there. After see-sawing up and down the same 10 or so pounds, I knew I needed something else in my life. I found Kimberley Taylor from TBYT and started reading her posts. One day she recommended the 21-Day Challenge and here I am.

My current weight is 148.2. I would love to be at goal by the end of June (trip to Italy coming up).Β  But I anticipate it will take a bit longer.

Aside from your physical weight, what other changes/ benefits have you received from taking better care of yourself?

I think the biggest change is in my prayer life. My quiet time in the morningΒ with God is precious to me. I also feel more patient and tenderhearted. I’m happier in my own skin.

What is your theme scripture that ministers to you on this journey?

Well, my word for the year is Freedom. I feel God moving me in ways where some of the chains holding me back will be broken. The scripture I am using this year is: β€œSo if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” John 8:36

How long have you been a member and what keeps you coming back?

I began with the 21-Day Challenge on September 13, 2016; then Breakthrough in October of 2016. I continued with Faith in Action and have enjoyed every course to date. I’ve learned a lot about myself and deepened my relationship with God. I depend on the support and encouragement from my sisters on this journey. There was a void that I have had in all my previous weight loss attempts. That void has now been filled.

What is the most profound principle you’ve learned in the Weight Loss, God’s Way program?

I think in Breakthrough when we learned about our false identities. Very eye-opening and empowering. When these identities rear their heads, I turn to the declarations I learned.

My favorite thing beyond the lessons is the Saturday morning call. If anyone had ever told me that I would happily wake up at 5:30 a.m. on a Saturday morning I would have said they were crazy. But, I try not to ever miss one, and if I do miss, I eagerly wait for the replay. The support and encouragement we give to one another is phenomenal. Sometimes in our day to day lives, other people, even our loved ones, can’t understand what we are going through. My sisters in WLGW understand and support one another no matter what stage of this journey we are on. You are all my extended family.

Wow Marge, your journey is inspirational and motivational. Thank you so much for your transparency and making it real for me…the good days, the struggles, but the never ending love just as you are today that you get from HIM touched me to the core, thank you.

Marge thanks so much for sharing! I am in the middle of the road from my highest weight to my goal weight (which is 145) I often think I will never get there because I started out too heavy but I can see from your testimony I can achieve that goal – it just takes time. Thanks for sharing.
