Most of us were raised to think that putting ourselves before others is selfish and ungodly but nothing could be further from the truth.
Think of the instructions they give us on an airplane, “put your own oxygen mask on first, and then assist others” if the event of loss of cabin pressure. Why? Because, to put it bluntly, you can’t help those in your care if you’re dead! The best thing you can do for those entrusted in your care is to be spiritually, physically, mentally and emotionally healthy and whole.
