Never Get Sick Again–Really?

This past weekend I saw a video that altered the course of my Thanksgiving weekend (our Thanksgiving is in October), and hopefully, the rest of my life. I’m excited to share it with you.

Usually I can justify having some pumpkin pie, apple pie, stuffing, and other extras, because it’s Thanksgiving and it’s only once a year. But after watching this video, I decided that it was not worth it.

The video claims that it’s possible to never get sick. The speaker, Dr. Raymond Francis, cites eliminating sugar as the number one thing you can do to never get sick. In his other writing, he also cites it as one of the number one things you can do to permanently lose weight.

Check out this video and let me know what you think. It’s a few years old, but it’s message is still on point.

I think intuitively, we know that we should not be eating sugar, but it just tastes so darn good!

So many of us want to get off sugar, but as soon as willpower wears off after a few days, and the cravings hit, most people (myself included) end up getting drawn right back into its death trap.

I think the reason we struggle so much with sugar is because we don’t recognize . . .

The Addictive Power of Sugar – Sugar is one of the most addictive substances in the world. Studies has shown that it is as addictive as cocaine and other opiod drugs.

The Emotional Power of Sugar – Let’s face it, we find much pleasure and comfort in sugar. Think of all the foods you enjoy, and why. Chances are they’re tied to special events, or conversely, used as a way to dull pain or pacify yourself.

Together, these two factors make getting off sugar feel like an impossible dream. A few months ago I eliminated sugar from my diet during our 30-Day Sugar Detox, but over time, it’s slowly crept back in.

I could feel defeated, however, I recognize I would never have been able to give it up at all in the past. Last year the thought of giving up sugar would not even have been an option, so progress is good.

It’s now been 5 days since I’ve been sugar free and it feels great! I’m so grateful for my health journey. It feels slow sometimes, but I’m making progress.

I’m reminding myself of the vision that I’ve created for my health, I’m reminding myself of my ‘why.’ My ‘why’ is an exercise I completed that outlines why being healthy is so important to me. I’m reminding myself about the quality of life I want to have in the future, and I’m submitting this journey over to God each day.

I can’t say how long this will last, but JUST FOR TODAY, I’ve made a commitment to give up sugar.

I encourage you to do the same. Don’t think about forever, just think about the next choice you need to make and choose wisely. Good health is nothing more than a series of choices you make day after day; choices to choose life and not death.

Love,

Cathy, finally watching this video and reading your encouraging words about detoxing sugar. It is very interesting and something that I have personally been working towards even before the 21 Day Challenge. Thank you for sharing it. I am hoping to continue to work towards this – now that I am “back”! I would be curious to know if some of the paleo recipes that are for desserts are equally as bad. And also- God brought the Israelites into a land of “milk and honey” so I feel that God had not intended for us to be off all dairy… Read more »

Thank you Cathy for your encouragement, you are a faithful and great example that I can do this, even when everyone around me and all that food that I see is right before my reach I see what you have done and more and more I am doing. The strength that I receive through the Holy Sprit and your web sight makes it a success for my life. I lost 30 lbs kept if off now over two years, but I do need to be reminded in order not to fall back in old ways. Blessings to your ministry. No… Read more »

Thank you for sharing Cathy! I’m actually on day 1 of the 21 day challenge, and instead of going straight home from work, I decided to sit in my car for a few minutes and read up on anything that would distract me from my usual habit of binge eating after 7pm. I saw your e-mail and wanted to say that it was right on time! Thank you God! I too have known the negative effects of sugar and have done an elimination diet—only to later regress, and fall deeper into the sugar binges. This reminder, including the support from… Read more »
