Day 2 – Count the Costs

I'm Loving This - Sign Me Up For The Entire 21 Day Challenge

Today’s Scripture Reflection

“If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.”  Matthew 16:24

Count the Costs

  • Even though we were created to be in good health, we’ve allowed other priorities to come before God’s natural design for us. As a result, many of us are willing to work hard to obtain other things in life, but when it comes to our health, we often are not willing to do what it takes to get the result we want.
  • So the real question for the person trying to lose weight becomes, “What are you willing to do?” Not want to do—willing to do! All of us want it, but how many of us are willing?
  • If your goal is to release 30 pounds in six months, are you willing to invest time and money to learn how? If your goal is to start exercising, are you willing to turn off the TV and lace up your running shoes? If your goal is to track your food, are you willing to wake up a bit earlier or stay up a bit later to do it? Are you willing to spend time in prayer and take this battle to the cross on a daily (sometimes hourly) basis?
  • Today’s challenge is to share 1 or 2 things you will adjust in your life in order to reach your goal. Will you need to wake up earlier to exercise or make your lunch? Find a hobby to alleviate your boredom? Go grocery shopping more often? Find a walking route? Ask the Holy Spirit to give you some practical strategies then share in the group or with your accountability partner.

I Need Practical Advice

Rather then merely talk platitudes, Cathy Morenzie identified specific shortcomings and bad habits that were standing in my way of managing my health. Using biblical principals, Cathy challenged me… Read more “I Need Practical Advice”
