May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Romans 15:13
How do you ‘feel when you wake up in the morning?
Do you hit the snooze button a few times and pull the covers over your head, or do you wake up with a spirit of anticipation and rejoicing?
If we’re honest with ourselves, there’s probably not much rejoicing happening when we first wake up.
Too often, we wake up with the same worries that were weighing heavy on our minds the night before.
We often do not get enough sleep, so we’re grumpy; and we often feel stress as soon as we get out of bed.
Now imagine if you woke up with this thought on your mind, ‘Something great is happening today!’ Would you wake up with excitement and anticipation? And, what if you went about your day with that thought on your mind.
You know the feeling you get when you’re waiting for a special package to be delivered, or when you’re looking forward to meeting with a special friend? Imagine that feeling.
This is available to us each and every day.
Fact is, something great IS happening today, but we often miss it because our lives are filled with so much stress and anxiety.
Pastor Steve Futrick says: “Faith is anticipation subtract anxiety.”
How wonderful is that!
If you have faith, there is no need to worry or to feel anxious.
You can wake up each day in faith knowing that God is at work in your life and the lives of all of his children.
As you wake up tomorrow, I challenge you to:
- Expect a solution to the problems you’re facing
- Expect an answer to the question you’ve been asking
- Expect your joy to be restored
- Expect hope to be renewed in the area of your life where you feel hopeless
- Expect to experience God and feel His hand upon you
- Expect something great to happen in your life!
As children of God, it’s time to stop living our lives focused on our problems. If we truly believe God is on the throne then our posture is to live in the solution. It’s time for us to raise our level of expectation.
It’s time for us to believe in the power of God’s Word.
If you live within faith then you can expect great things to happen in your life each day. Why? Because despite what your day looks like, Romans 8:28 teaches us that, ‘all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.’
Something great will happen in your life today. It may come in the form of a beautiful sunrise or sunset; a kind word from a total stranger or a loved one; an unexpected phone call; or the perfect parking space.
The key is to expect it!
It may be time for you to raise your level of expectation. Wake up each day with anticipation believing that something great will happen.
When you live looking for the blessing in the day, it will find you. You will seek it out and will never be disappointed.
