“I joined Weight Loss, God’s Way in December 2018. I started the devotions and my weight loss journey the day after Christmas. I have done many sensible and some non-sensible things throughout my life trying to lose the same weight over and over again. Obviously, these never “stuck” because I always left out the most important component—God!”
I was at my highest weight of 192 lbs when I went to my doctor in November. He said he wanted to increase my blood pressure medication. I asked him (as I did several other times in the past) to let me try to lose weight first. He charted it and sent me on my way.
I was in tears and let out a desperate cry to God pleading with Him to help me because I could not do it on my own. I opened my YouVersion Bible Study app, and there sat a plan that months before I had “started”, but didn’t really start. It was the Weight Loss, God’s Way Devotional. I went to the computer and researched it, prayed about it, and finally joined.
I have released 37 pounds so far. I am totally off my blood pressure medications. I have more energy and no longer wake up with heartburn or panic attacks.
I have always had a pretty close walk with Jesus, but I have come to trust Him with my food choices, my exercise plans, and His will for me on a daily basis now.
I really enjoy the ‘LIVE’ courses because it keeps me focused and on-track, and I love the fellowship with other like-minded Christian women. Every time I have been able to attend a webinar or live meeting, I have been blessed beyond what I ever thought I could. The Holy Spirit always has a way of making the devotions, lessons, Facebook posts, and meetings speak exactly to what I need at the time.
Sure there are hard days, sometimes weeks, but I continue to focus on scripture, the devotions, and the Facebook fellowship during these struggling seasons. A favorite verse that has come out of this program is Philippians 1:6,
“And I am certain that God, who began the good work in you, will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”
He is doing remarkable things in my life as far as my relationship with food, exercise, and my body in general. I am convinced that He will always be faithful, not just until I reach my weight goal, but as long as I live on this earth—actually forever and ever.
The most profound principle I have learned from this program is that God really DOES care about what we eat, drink, and do to our bodies. He always wants what is best for us. We can have peace with the process if we trust in Him.
